 Reverend Todd Weir

Email Pastor

Rev. Todd Weir brings 30 years of ministry and leadership experience to our congregation. He has a passion for uniting the outward journey of community service and justice with the inward spiritual journey of prayer and contemplation. Before being called to this congregation, he served churches in Providence, RI, and Poughkeepsie, NY. Most recently he spent nine years at First Churches of Northampton, the church where the famous colonial minister Jonathan Edwards preached. He loves to preach and teach, and his sermons were featured for three years by the Abingdon Press Creative Preaching Annual from 2014-2016.

Todd has been involved in community work his whole career. He was a program director of Hillcrest House, a shelter and transitional housing program with 120 beds and rooms, for eight years. Todd was also a leader for a major affordable housing project in the neighborhood of his church in Poughkeepsie. In Northampton, Todd was the chair of the City Housing Partnership, which advised the Mayor on affordable housing issues. He has also served on boards in the United Church of Christ, including the Massachusetts Conference Board and the Common Global Ministries Board. He is currently on the Community Resources Council Board here in Boothbay Harbor.

Todd is also a skilled counselor. He received a Masters in Psychological Counseling from Marist College, and is a Certified Professional Life and Leadership Coach. He offers coaching and spiritual direction for other clergy, including a group in Maine for new clergy starting in ministry.

Todd describes himself as a haphazard gardener and a pretty good cook. He and Jeanne have four adult children. They enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and sailing.
