OPEN AND AFFIRMING

JOIN US FOR SUNDAY WORSHIP AT 10:00 AM

WELCOME TO THE CHURCH
WORSHIP & SUNDAY SCHOOL EVERY SUNDAY AT 10:00 AM
COMMUNION IS HELD ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH

The Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, United Church of Christ, is an open and affirming community of faith, hope and love. We seek to embody a faith that transcends all differences, and we are committed to affirming every person as a unique and precious creation of God. With sadness, we acknowledge that the Christian Church has, throughout history, condemned and mistreated persons based on distinctions such as gender and race. We believe such actions are inconsistent with Jesus' call to "love one another" and his prayer that "they may all be one." By the grace of God, we joyfully and gratefully welcome all persons who wish to be a part of our community into the full life, leadership and ministry of the church.

OUR PASTOR

During the month of December our beloved Ken Bradsell will cover the pulpit. Rev. Ken Bradsell and his wife, Marcia, are members of our congregation. The Bradsells relocated their US residence to Boothbay Harbor from Ridgewood, NJ in 2015. Ken had just retired from the executive staff of the Reformed Church in America where he served as director of operations and chief of staff for the General Synod of the church and chief operating officer for the church’s insurance and retirement corporation. The Bradsells locked up their home on Linekin Bay as soon as the movers were done in January 2015, stayed a few days with Marianne Reynolds (an old friend from NJ), then departed for two years of post-retirement work in the Sultanate of Oman (with summers at home in Boothbay Harbor). Ken served the congregations of the Protestant Church in Oman as its lead pastor and served as liaison for all Protestant and Orthodox ministries in Oman with that country’s Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Prior to his service on the executive staff of the Reformed Church, Ken served pastorates in Douglaston, Long Island, Montgomery Township, NJ and Albany, NY. Ken and Marcia are the parents of three grown children: Adam, Mark, and Rachel, and the grandparents of Sam and Beau Bradsell, Deanna Rudrud.

On Christmas Eve, Ken will be splitting duties with our own Brian Donovan:  Brian will lead the 4:30 PM Family Worship, and Ken will lead the Lessons and Carols at 8 PM.

Brian received his Master of Divinity from the Boston University School of Theology in May of this year, and afterwards spent several months in chaplaincy training at the Gregory Wing in Saint Andrews Village. Brian is hoping to finish the requirements for ordination by year’s end or shortly thereafter. He has preached in many pulpits around the area, and we are delighted to welcome him back here in Boothbay Harbor for Christmas Eve.

OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Church shall be to teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, to establish a fellowship based on the love of God and humanity, and to further the Realm of God.
